Privacy Policy

Purpose of this Policy

At NeuroThrive Psychology, we collect and handle personal information to provide psychological services. We are committed to protecting your privacy and creating a safe, secure therapeutic space. We understand the sensitivity of personal information and the trust placed in us when it's shared.

This policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, and the Australian Psychological Society (APS) Code of Ethics.

What Personal Information We Collect

"Personal information" refers to any data that can identify you, or that could reasonably be used to identify you.

We may collect information such as:

When We Share Information

We only share personal information with your consent, except when required or permitted by law.

Information may be disclosed:

  • To your referring doctor or other treating professionals (with consent)

  • When legally required (e.g. under a court subpoena)

We may also disclose information without consent in circumstances where there is a serious threat to someone’s life, health, or safety—even if the risk is not imminent.

How We Keep Your Information Safe

NeuroThrive Psychology takes data protection seriously. We have implemented safeguards to prevent misuse, loss, or unauthorised access.

  • Electronic records are stored securely and backed up

Accessing Your Information

You have the right to request access to your personal records. All requests must be made in writing for security and documentation purposes.
In certain cases, we may limit or refuse access if legally permitted to do so (e.g. to protect the privacy of others or where requests are frivolous). Where possible, we will provide a reason for any refusal.

You can read more via the APS Charter for Clients of Psychologists.

Psychologists are also registered under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), which enforces mandatory reporting obligations to protect the public from serious harm.
